Hi, everybody, it has been a while…I know! But I have been really busy restyling several of my older Mugo Yamadori completely and I first styled a rother unique large cascading Mugo that I collected with my Slovenian friends 5 years ago I documented it all and will post it as soon as the last footage is shot and edited on to my YouTube Bonsai channel!!! So watch this space!!! So CU all soon!!! Here is a sneak teaser of “BIG RON” with his completely new backside!!!
I just posted on YouTube the short video that I shot last weekend at the 12th edition of the “Bonsai from the West” event that was staged as always in the middle of the beautiful Botanical garden in Delft (the Netherlands). This yearly event revolves around the care and presentation of Bonsai. The goal is to inspire and motivate Bonsaïsts and to introduce a broad public to this unique hobby. In addition to the Bonsai exhibition, there were various activities, including Bonsai demonstrations and workshops, taichi, shinkendo, ikebana and a large Bonsai market where everything that has to do with Bonsai could be purchased! The Bonsai on display are from several Bonsai clubs and professionals from the Western part of Holland (the Netherlands) and they are challenged to come up with new and innovative ways to exhibit their Bonsai! And I must say that they all did a great job and that the overall show gets better and better each year! And I can’t wait until next year’s 13th edition of this fun event…when I will be demonstrating there! P.S. two more long videos f my trip and demo and workshop in Slovenia and of the exciting “Kei Bonsai Kai” monster event in Gent Belgium!!! So watch this space for that!!! Then I will start to repost here the 10 years of posts that I managed to save from my old blog that was removed without warning suddenly from the web! Such a lot to do and so little time to do it! 😉
last week or so we were unpleasantly surprised by a really bad cold spell with night temperatures of minus 8 so I had to stop in the middle of my repotting work. The ones that I already had don were kept in my upstairs bathroom with the window slightly opened so that they could defrost slowly! But this freaky weather gave me the opportunity to rework some of my videos on youtube to improve them and to change the claimed music with some great royalty-free tunes! Finding just the right music to fit my taste kept me up some extremely late nights…but I found some really nice beats and now there is no royalty claim any longer on my clips and 6 videos were upgraded for better viewing pleasure! I am finished just in time to start repotting some 20 + trees again in the next week and then I have to start wiring and styling some big trees of which one “The Elephant” has to be prepared for the international “Kei Bonsai Kai” exhibition that is staged for the second time on the 26th of May in the “GINKGO” Bonsai centre in Laarne Belgium! That I will film with my new camera and post so that you all can enjoy this Bonsai extravaganza on youtube!!! As well, I of course filmed and posted my two visits to beautiful Slovenia and the demo and workshops that I will give there!! So watch this space!!! So that wiring and styling is a bit of a hasty job because the buds on “The Elephant” are already swollen from the nice weather we had before Jack frost came back! So plenty to do in a hurry…but that is just fine and all a part of this great Bonsai hobby! Here are a few links to my redone videos.
I have made a start to improve and/or adjust 7 of my Bonsai videos on youtube. Some were shakey and others had copyright issues and that bothered me so I bought a much better professional video editing program and have just reposted the first two remastered Bonsai videos back on youtube! It is the “KEI BONSAI KAI” Bonsai exhibition video Part I and II that I shot in May 2016 in the famous Bonsai centre “GINKGO” in Laarne Belgium. Don’t forget to visit the second edition of this amazing Bonsai extravaganza on the 26th of May this year!!! Believe me that you won’t be disappointed, so I hope to see you all there?! More improved and/or adjusted videos will be reposted during the next couple of days, so watch this space!!!
Finally, after trying it in vain for more than a week, I managed to post the last of only two saved copies of the originally produced video! I was finally able to do it with NCH VideoPad…this was the sixth one I had downloaded to solve this problem! The first program Cyberlink power director 12 that came with my computer had all kinds of for me unsolvable problems and crashed several times! And one of the 2 copies of the original finished video that I could save from them capt on showing up flipped after posting it on youtube?! Even after flipping it over with a downloaded program it still showed up wrong?! No help could be found on or from youtube…so I was glad that I was finally able to post this second copy with the help of VideoPad!!! Although the sound on this only left good version is not too good, I still hope that it is enjoyable for the Bonsai lovers out there?! It brought me a lot of headaches and frustrations …bud it thought me to only work with good devices and programs and most of all: SAFE MORE THAN ONE COPY !!!
More videos will be uploaded soon (if all goes well that is)! 😉
I am happy and relieved to tell you all that last night I finally posted Part I of the story of “the Elephant” onto YouTube! It took me 6 days and late at night to do it right…but I finally was happy enough with the result to post it!!! It took me this long because I had to go through many hundreds of pictures on 2 computers and 3 external hard drives to find the best ones! Then I had to improve most of them to finally be able to load them from my old computer onto my new computer, where I had to make a film of them with a for me totally new and unknown program named: CyberLink PowerDirector…..and that was not that easy…to say the least!!! It has been some years since I cursed that much!!! 😉 But I have to say that the final result is very satisfying…so I hope you like it too?! Tonight I will start to work on Part II which is all video and covers the massive repotting I did this spring, when after living for 10 years in a wooden box, “the Elephant” was finally planted in its first real Bonsai pot! I hope to upload that in a week or so?! For now, I hope you enjoy this first part?!
thank you all for visiting my Blog so often. I am honoured by your interest in my work and it inspires me to go on in the direction I have chosen for my Bonsai. I have high hopes for 2008, I am already asked to do workshops and demo’s in Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Norway, and England and a long visit to the USA in May is in the making! To do so much travelling to show what I like to do so much is like a dream come true! To see so many new countries and places to meet many new Bonsai friends…I can hardly wait for the New Year to begin! And, only in just a few weeks, it is off to Belgium for the annual Noelanders Trophy. I will be showing 3 Bonsai in the show and more important will have 2 days of fun with all my Bonsai mates that come every year to this very friendly event, from every corner of Europe!
And some of my Yamadori are up for their second and third styling, so that is exciting to for me. I will take lots of pictures and post them first here on my blog as soon as possible! You are welcome anytime here to visit my blog or my YOUTUBE channel, where you can find lots of videos of my work and progressive stories of my Bonsai. https://youtub.be/hjp1tfEPJB0
