Some pictures that I made during my short (wet) break in Belgium.

Hi, everybody,

here are some pictures that I like to share with you all, they were made last week during my short break in the beautiful Ardenne in Belgium. It sadly rained most of the time, but during the last day, the sun broke through the clouds so I could finally make my long-planned hike to see the old Oaks I had seen for the first time some 20 years ago! So when the sun came out I wanted to take quick advantage of this opportunity and make the long walk to finally see them again! They grow on an impossible hard rock mountainside and some of them are just 2 meters high. They are stunning and some grow in really unique forms, like the multiple trunks one in the picture below. MY BONSAI WOUND TREATMENT ARTICLE IS ONLINE!

Hi, everybody,

for those who have been waiting for the publication of my wound treatment article “The van Meer technique” Wink……..well it’s posted today on the great online “ofBonsai Magazine” that you can find  HERE

This is the wound treatment technique that I discussed during my evening lecture at last years legendary Burrs and the reactions were so positive that night that I decided to put it all into writing for an online article so that it could reach even more people! This wound treatment technique is simply sad: a technique that helps the healing over and closing of large cut wounds on trees! I tested and developed this technique over a period of more than 15 years on my own trees and on those of my students. Everything is explained with the help of my drawings and with pictures that I have made over the years! So if you are interested then have a look and I hope that my little technique will be useful for you as well!

Cheers,

Hans van Meer.

MY LILAC PRE BONSAI IN FULL BLOOM.

Hi, everybody,

I would like to share a picture that I made a few days ago of my Lilac “syringa microphylla” pre Bonsai in extreme full bloom! It smells up the whole garden with a sweet and intoxicating scent, and it looks pretty sweet as well! This Lilac is an urban yamadori salvaged from a soon to be demolished train station and it came into my possession as raw material in 2009.

My masterclass at the “Bonsai vereniging noord en midden Limburg”.

Hi everybody,

last Sunday I gave my second Masterclass in a mount, the first one was 2 weeks ago in Leersum (NL) and this one was all the way in Venlo at the “Bonsai vereniging noord en midden Limburg” (Bonsai club north and middle Limburg). After a long 2 hour early morning drive I arrived at their club house that is situated in the middle of a children’s patting zoo, were I was welcomed by free walking chickens and peacocks. I got help from some friendly club members to carry in my drawing board and 6 of my trees that I brought alone as examples for the lecture. After a nice warm coffee , it was very cold that morning, I started with my Masterclass for a full house of over 30 people that brought along there trees for me to discuss after my lecture section. The members of this club were very enthusiastic and eager to learn, so the day flew by! They were all very happy with my lecture and the tree discussion! So I left for home very content and with a smile on my face! I hope to be invited back some day to work again with all these friendly Bonsai enthusiastic!

Below: 2 pictures of my lecture and tree discussion.

PICTURES FROM MY VISIT TO THE “DESHIMA BONSAI STUDIO” (NL).

Hi, everybody

last Saturday I drove up to Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel (close to Rotterdam) to visit my good Bonsai friend Teunis Jan Klein at his Bonsai studio “Deshima” , for a talk over some coffee and also to check out my Taxus demo tree that was at his place! The two amazing Acer’s that welcomed me in his self-build Bonsai studio were overwhelmingly happy and colourful! They gave a tunning impression that can only be admired! Great place, some great trees and a great artist and teacher, well don my friend! Here are some pictures to give you an impression of what I saw that day, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did?! And if you have the change, go visit him in his Studio, you won’t be disappointed!
